Minutes of SubVet RV’ers  2009 Annual Meeting

Minutes of SubVet RV'ers 2009 Annual Meeting

The annual business meeting of the SubVet RV'ers was held during USSVI Convention week at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center, San Diego, CA., on Friday, September 11,2009, in the Royal Palm Salon 5 meeting room.

The meeting was called to order by President Dave Harnish at1500 hours. The members and guests present are as listed on the attached Sailing List. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes of the 2008 annual meeting as submitted.

Motion carried without any objection. Treasurer Sharleen Rathmell presented the treasurer's report and noted that 25 new members have joined the group during the past year. A motion to accept the treasurer's report was made, seconded and unanimously carried.

President Dave Harnish reminded those annual members that dues are payable in August and urged that they become life members and minimize the required record keeping. Dave continued by recognizing Wagon Master Pete Rathmell for coordinating the RV'ers activities in San Diego with regard to RV Parks, the informal gathering of the RV'ers on Tuesday evening, and the Pot Luck dinner scheduled for 1800 later this day at the Santa Fe RV Park clubhouse. Dave solicited a motion from the floor to reimburse Pete and Sharleen for their RV park fees for the week. Jim Denzien so motioned, Marie Porter seconded, and the motion passed to pay the Rathmell's fees of some $132.00.

The election of officers for the upcoming year was opened with Dave Harnish recommending that Vice President Jim Myers (not in attendance), Treasurer Sharleen Rathmell, and Wagon Master Pete Rathmell continue to serve in their respective elected position. Dave announced that Jim Wall had agreed to serve as President and Jim Denzien agreed to accept the duties of Secretary. That slate of officers was presented to the membership for reelection/election, as applicable, and were unanimously elected. Dave Harnish called on past USSVI National Commander John Peters to administer the oath of office to the slate of officers. All officers pledged to serve with honesty and integrity.

Outgoing President Dave Harnish recognized selected past officers in attendance for their contributions to the SubVet RV'ers group and recognized Founder Charlie Brown for starting the group and holding life membership card # l.

Wagon Master Pete Rathmell broached the idea of a new RV' ers patch to replace the current "diesel boat on wheels" patch designed by Charlie Brown back when he started the RV'ers group. Pete's idea was for a patch that depicteda RV coach front end that transcended into the outline of a submarine toward the rear of the coach. The proposed patch was not available at the meeting but a banner of same would be available for viewing at the Pot Luck dinner. A member that had seen the banner commented that

the proposed design did not reflect the rigs of those members that tow campers or 5thwheels. No further discussion ensued. Dave recognized Jim and Linda Wall for celebrating their 52nd wedding anniversary and asked all members present to introduce themselves, their 1st mates and describe their rigs. Dave reiterated his long-time desire to have the RV'ers group become a base within USSVI but acknowledged that all members would have to be a member of USSVI and there are still WWII SubVets that belong to the RV'ers group but not to USSVI. Following reminders about the RV'ers website, www.subvetrvers.com  and the Stop Over Program contained within the website, Dave turned the discussion to the 2010 combined USSVI and WWII SubVets convention scheduled for the Cincinnati, Ohio area and asked Wagon Master Pete Rathmell to liaison with the RV coordinator for the Cincinnati USSVI Base. I, Galin Brady, identified myself as that person and gave a brief discussion on the plans as I knew them.

At 1603 a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and carried.

Respectfully submitted, Galin Brady Secretary (outgoing)
